OUR INITIATIVES
The Big Sky Chamber. Your partner in solutions. Solutions for your business. Solutions for our community.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
This is a critically important issue for the Big Sky community and in light of that, the Big Sky Chamber has convened a panel of local care providers to speak about their needs assessments and research reports. These studies help aid our town’s understanding of what Behavioral Health Resources are available in Big Sky and what our community needs moving forward.

COMMUNITY HOUSING
In 2016, the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the HRDC, formed the Big Sky Community Housing Trust (BSCHT) which was responsible for the affordable housing effort in Big Sky. In the years since, the BSCHT has blossomed in to a self sustaining organization receiving Resort Tax Funding in the 2018/2019 Fiscal Year Appropriations.
ENERGY
In the summer of 2017, NorthWestern Energy convened a multi-session process of engaging the Big Sky Community about the need for, and location of, a new mid-mountain substation. As part of the exploratory team, the Big Sky Chamber helped address the community concerns about the location and technology used for the new substation while helping to determine a solution. After a year of deliberation and community wide discussion, the Rainham location was selected as the best option that compromised community need and concern.

TRANSPORTATION
The Big Sky Chamber was entrusted to be the catalyst in addressing the Transportation/Transit infrastructure challenge on behalf of the Big Sky Community dating back to the initial community forums in association with Montana State University’s Western Transportation Institute in January / February 2016. Using the results of a study completed by Sanderson Stewart to apply for a Federal TIGER Grant, the Big Sky Community was awarded a $10.3 Million grant to help improve the safety along MT Highway 64.
WATER
