  1. Go For a Hike: Hiking is one of the best ways to explore the mountains.  Some of the more popular trails for kids include South Fork Loop, Ousel Falls, Hummocks and Uplands. 
  2. Explore the Community Park - The Big Sky Community Park offers plenty of opportunity for families to be active outside.  The park features a disc golf course, skatepark, brand new pump track, and newly developed adventure playground.  Adding the park to your itinerary is a cost effective way to enjoy Big Sky. 
  3. Whitewater Rafting on the Gallatin -  A rafting trip down the rive will create lasting memories with the family. Book a trip with Montana Whitewater and hold on while you splash through the wild rapids of the Gallatin River. 
  4. Climbing at BASE Community Center -  If bad weather crashes your visit, don't be discouraged.  The climbing wall at BASE is a great indoor activity to keep your family moving. 
  5. Ziplining -  Ziplining is an adventure the whole family can enjoy.  Luckily, there are two choices in Big Sky through Big Sky Resort and Montana Whitewater on the Gallatin River. 
  6. Big Sky Resort Basecamp Adventures -  Experience a full day of fun at Big Sky Resort's Basecamp - bungee trampoline, zip lines, giant swings, hikes, and more. 
  7. Wildlife Spotting at Yellowstone National Park - A visit to Big Sky wouldn't be complete without a day trip to Yellowstone National Park.  Head to the park on your own, or leave the driving to the experts and book a guided tour for the day. 
  8. Paddle Board on Lake Levinsky - Keep cool during the hot summer weather by spending a day on Lake Levinsky.  Paddle boards, kayaks and canoes can be rented at the marina. 
  9. Bowling at the Montage -  This is another indoor activity that is perfect for rainy days.  
  10. Horseback trail ride - Get a little western with a horseback ride at one of the many outfitters around town.  This is one of the best ways to take in the mountain views around Big Sky!
  11. Golfing - Are you a golf family?  Don't miss the opportunity to play at the Big Sky Golf Course.  You won't be disappointed by the views as you spend a day together as a family. 
  12. Mountain Biking -  Mountain biking has quickly become a family favorite activity in Big Sky.  From downhill trails at Big Sky Resort to cross-country trails around town, you can easily find an option to fit your style.  Bike rentals can be found on the mountain at Big Sky Resort and in town center. 
  13. Lone Peak Expedition - The Lone Peak Expedition at Big Sky Resort is an incredibly unique adventure for families.  You'll take in panoramic views as you soar to an elevation of 11,166 ft aboard Big Sky's new tram.
  14. Tuesday Night Rodeo -  While you can't actively participate in this event, watching the Tuesday night rodeo at Lone Mountain Ranch is one of the most entertaining activities all summer long.  Be sure to book in advance. 
  15. Farmers Market -  The Wednesday night farmers market is a cherished summer tradition in Big Sky.  Kids will enjoy browsing the different vendors and grabbing a huckleberry snowcone!
  16. Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center - Both educational and exciting, a day trip to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone offers an up-close experience with Montana's wildlife you won't want to miss.
